Karsan, which recently won a tender organized by the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, delivered 17 12-meter Karsan e-ATA buses as part of this project. The ceremony, held at the MEŞOT Public Transportation Complex, was attended by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mr. Vahap Seçer, along with EU Delegation to Turkey Cooperation Section Head Maria Luisa Wyganowski, Transportation Sector Manager Dr. Göktuğ Kara, officials from the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, Karsan Domestic Sales Deputy General Manager Muzaffer Arpacıoğlu, After-Sales Services Director Kubilay Dinçer, Sales Manager Adem Ali Metin, Sales Manager Fırat Acar, and many citizens.
Mersin becomes one of the leading cities in fully electric public transportation
Karsan, which has attracted worldwide attention with its 100% electric e-ATA, delivered 17 Karsan e-ATA 12-meter electric buses to the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality in cooperation with the European Union and the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality under the IPA II program. With the addition of these 17 vehicles to the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality fleet, a significant milestone will be reached in Turkey’s public transportation sector. With the introduction of this fleet, Mersin will become one of the leading cities in sustainable mobility not only in Turkey but also on a regional scale.

Long range, maximum comfort: The new generation Karsan e-ATA
Named after the Turkish word “Ata,” meaning “ancestor,” the e-ATA is one of the largest bus models in Karsan’s electric product range. Born electric, the e-ATA offers a highly flexible structure in many areas, from battery technology to transport capacity, enabling it to respond quickly to needs.
The 12-meter e-ATA buses joining the Mersin Metropolitan Municipality fleet have been specially optimized considering the city’s climate, route structure, and operational conditions. Accordingly, the vehicles are offered with a 396 kWh battery capacity, approximately 2.5-3 hours charging time, a range of up to 400 kilometers, and a 70-passenger capacity version. Karsan’s e-ATA model delivers high performance even on steep routes with its motor producing a maximum power of 250 kW and 22,000 Nm of torque. Offering an accessible interior thanks to its fully low-floor design, the e-ATA is ushering in a new era of public transportation in Mersin with its comfortable, quiet, and eco-friendly travel experience.
