The ID. Buzz is electrifying the global VW Bus community. It combines maximum spaciousness and an iconic design with an efficient, all-electric drive and thus carries the Volkswagen Bus feeling into the modern era. The ID. Buzz is now receiving a comprehensive update. For the ID. Buzz Pro1, there will be an additional 250 kW (340 PS) 4MOTION variant (all-wheel drive, one electric drive motor each on the front and rear axles) with an increased maximum trailer weight. Thanks to the latest software generation, the ID. Buzz also has a host of new functions on board. These include, for example, the enhanced Connected Travel Assist with automatic traffic light recognition as well as one-pedal driving, where the vehicle recuperates until it comes to a standstill. In addition, a vehicle-to-load function means it will now be possible to continuously supply 2.0 kW of power to external devices such as electric grills or e-bikes. The ID. Buzz will be in the starting blocks with its new functions and for the first time also in the color combination “Candy White/Cherry Red” from summer 2026.
All-wheel drive increases maximum trailer weight: With the new ID. Buzz Pro 4MOTION, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is making it possible to hitch even larger trailers behind the electric VW Bus. In the case of the 340 PS ID. Buzz Pro 4MOTION with normal wheelbase, the maximum trailer weight is 1,800 kg (braked, 8 per cent gradient); for the ID. Buzz Pro 4MOTION with long wheelbase, the value is 1,600 kg. The maximum trailer weight has therefore been increased by 600 kg compared with the rear-wheel drive variant. The ID. Buzz Pro 4MOTION with normal wheelbase is powered by a 79-kWh battery; the long wheelbase version is equipped with the larger 86-kWh battery.
Connected Travel Assist with traffic light recognition: A new evolutionary stage of Travel Assist will be optionally available in future for the ID. Buzz. As the system uses a wide range of online data, it has been renamed Connected Travel Assist. An innovation at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles is the fact that the assist system for assisted lateral and longitudinal guidance now also reacts to traffic lights. If the system detects a red traffic light, it automatically brakes the ID. Buzz to a standstill2. Another new feature is one-pedal driving, which permits rapid deceleration of the VW Bus to a standstill2 through regulation of the accelerator alone.
More flexibility thanks to vehicle-to-load: The new software generation also introduces the vehicle-to-load function in the ID. Buzz. It enables electrical devices to be powered directly from the vehicle battery. The high-voltage battery can be used to continuously operate or charge external devices with 2.0 kW via the Mode 3 connection of the charging socket using an adapter. This makes it possible, for example, to charge e-bikes directly at the ID. Buzz on a weekend trip.
Infotainment with new services: The new Innovision infotainment system is also used in the ID. Buzz. A new app store is integrated into the system, which allows functions and services to be activated or expanded digitally, flexibly and on a vehicle-specific basis. Just like with a smartphone, popular apps from areas such as audio, video streaming, parking, charging and gaming are available for download here. Operation of the ID. Buzz is additionally improved by a multifunction steering wheel with newly designed buttons.
