For four days, from 13 to 16 May, Fiera Milano will become the mobility hub thanks to the concurrent staging of two events – Transpotec Logitec and NME-Next Mobility Exhibition – dedicated respectively to freight transport and passenger mobility. Overall, the event brings together more than 500 exhibitors across 6 halls, placing at the heart of the debate the challenges and opportunities of sectors undergoing profound transformation and increasingly strategic for the country’s system. This central role is also reflected in global trade dynamics, which are increasingly dependent on resilient logistics chains capable of adapting to an unstable and constantly evolving international scenario.
Within this framework, Transpotec Logitec takes shape as a true aggregator of the supply chain: a space where all players – from industry to transport, from shippers to institutions – find a point of convergence to interpret change and build shared responses.
Strengthening the international dimension of the event is the collaboration with ITA – the Italian Trade Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalisation of Italian companies, which in recent months has supported the promotion of Transpotec Logitec overseas and helped bring to the exhibition an international delegation made up of top buyers and journalists from Albania, Austria, Bulgaria, France, Greece, Norway, the Netherlands, Poland, the United Kingdom, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and Hungary.
AN OFFER THAT TELLS THE STORY OF THE SECTOR’S EVOLUTION
The exhibition offering provides a comprehensive picture of the complexity of an increasingly integrated transport system, in which logistics plays a central role in managing flows and in the competitiveness of the production system, and confirms road haulage as a fundamental link in ensuring continuity, flexibility and connection throughout the entire supply chain.
At the heart of the offering are heavy vehicles, with the full presence of the “eight sisters”: DAF Industrial Vehicles, Ford Trucks, Iveco, MAN Truck & Bus, Mercedes-Benz Trucks, Renault Trucks, Scania and Volvo Trucks.
A proposal marked by technological plurality, ready to meet every need: latest-generation diesel, natural gas, biofuels, the first hydrogen applications and, of course, electric. The latter, in particular, is progressively expanding its range of use, moving from urban logistics to longer routes, with an average autonomy of 500 km – distances that until recently were unimaginable.
The vehicle is presented as an integrated system, where hardware components, design and connectivity interact to improve safety, efficiency and operational continuity. Services are taking on an increasingly strategic role, with solutions that include real-time monitoring, performance analysis, activity planning and predictive maintenance, helping to reduce operating costs, improve driver ergonomics and maximise vehicle utilisation.
Light commercial vehicles – with proposals from Dongfeng Motor Italia, Iveco, KIA Italia, MAN Truck & Bus Italia, Renault Trucks Italia and Stellantis – are also evolving from work vehicles into intelligent, electric and connected platforms, designed to respond ever more precisely to the needs of urban logistics and distribution, with high levels of customisation, digital integration and optimisation of total operating cost. Agile and compact electric vehicles – including three-wheeled versions – are suited to last-mile deliveries and can access restricted traffic areas, reduce noise levels and optimise multi-stop operations.
The offering of bodywork and trailers is also extensive, featuring flexible and specialised solutions. In particular, in temperature-controlled transport, the need emerges to reconcile high performance, customisation and sustainability: increasingly efficient and low-environmental-impact refrigeration systems, electrified and quieter units, multi-temperature configurations enabling the transport of different goods within the same trip, and custom-designed bodywork to meet the needs of specific supply chains or particular geographic areas.
The Aftermarket Village, curated by Parts Truck magazine of the DBInformation publishing group, will finally bring together more than 40 aftermarket companies for commercial and industrial vehicles and will host, in addition to the exhibition area, a central square designed to foster networking among industry professionals.
Completing the offering is a range of solutions including energy, fuels and lubricants, with growing attention not only to the transition towards alternative sources, but also to improving engine efficiency and overall vehicle performance.
THE LOGITEC SOUL IS RENEWED
If logistics is now a system issue, its complexity requires dedicated spaces. It is from this need that the relaunch of the Logitec area is born.
With over 100 companies in the sector, Logitec takes shape as an ecosystem dedicated to the supply chain, urban distribution and intermodal connections, offering an integrated view of the transformations underway.
The sector is dominated by increasingly advanced digitalisation which, enhanced by artificial intelligence, finds application in route optimisation systems, demand forecasting, real-time shipment monitoring, synchronisation between warehouse and transport, all the way to reducing empty runs and improving vehicle load factors, as well as automation of documentary processes – making logistics more efficient, predictive and integrated.
Within the area there will also be the Logistic Village created by FIAP – the Italian Federation of Professional Road Hauliers, a networking venue for all supply chain players, from businesses to institutions, the space of F.A.I., which brings to the exhibition the perspective of Italian transport, and the collective stand of Assologistica.
EXPERIENCE AND PASSION: THE OUTDOOR AREAS
Curated by Next To The Truckers, the test drives will allow operators to directly evaluate the most innovative vehicles on the road, while the used-vehicle area will offer a comprehensive overview of the best solutions available on the market.
On Friday 15 and Saturday 16, the outdoor areas will also host the Truck Look Village with the decorated trucks gathering, which will showcase, through highly selected vehicles, the trends in the sector – from technological innovation to sustainability – without forgetting the more emotional aspect linked to passion.
CONFERENCES: KEYS TO INTERPRETING A SECTOR IN TRANSFORMATION
Alongside the exhibition offering, an extensive programme of conferences will provide a forum for discussion among companies, institutions and stakeholders, helping to steer the market in the medium to long term.
The starting point will be the opening conference of Transpotec Logitec and NME, which will provide an opportunity to take stock of passenger and freight transport, public policies and transition. Organised by Fiera Milano in collaboration with the National Register of Road Hauliers and the Italian associations of collective transport, AGENS, ANAV and ASSTRA, it will link freight transport and passenger transport as interconnected components of a single ecosystem. At the centre of the debate: public policies, investments and regulatory tools to support the energy transition, fleet renewal and the development of intermodality.
Another theme cutting across both events will be work and skills. The shortage of drivers – in Italy alone 25,000 truck drivers and 12,000 passenger transport drivers are missing – and the strong generational imbalance make it urgent to intervene in training, attractiveness and generational turnover. In response to these critical issues, the programme includes initiatives dedicated to guidance, training and inclusion: from the Transport Careers Day – A Guide to the Future, organised in collaboration with Think Smart Mobility @MIND, with the Job Matching Arena that will connect companies, associations, school guidance counsellors and more than 300 students, to the meeting promoted by Next to the Truckers on employment opportunities in the mechatronics field, which will involve a further 100 students, up to the conference Logistics is a profession for women, which will describe the evolution of a sector that is increasingly open and inclusive.
The programme of meetings in the Logitec area is designed as a space for discussion dedicated to interpreting the transformations underway in the logistics system. The agenda addresses the main issues that today affect the competitiveness of the supply chain, reflecting its complexity and evolution. At the centre are the country’s strategic supply chains, starting with pharmaceuticals and agri-food – the latter explored in a conference organised in collaboration with TUTTOFOOD – for which operational continuity, safety and the quality of flows are indispensable factors.
During the exhibition days, discussion will focus on the themes of multimodality and integration between different modes of transport, increasingly necessary to ensure efficiency and resilience along the supply chain, as well as on the planning of logistics hubs and the infrastructure criticalities affecting the main European corridors, starting with Alpine crossings. A specific space will also be dedicated to air cargo dynamics, a key segment for high-value exports, today profoundly influenced by geopolitical scenarios and the transformation of international flows. Digital transformation will be addressed as an essential lever of resilience: artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and data management become tools to increase the visibility of logistics chains, prevent risks and react more quickly to crises.
The events dedicated to road haulage will instead analyse the main challenges for the sector, focusing on the more technical and regulatory aspects. At the centre of the discussion: the energy transition, the economic sustainability of companies, the role of the aftermarket, European regulatory constraints, with a pragmatic approach aimed at providing interpretative tools and support to companies called upon to operate in an increasingly complex context.
Transpotec Logitec will take place from 13 to 16 May at Fiera Milano.
